About
Dr. Eric L Wasser studied and mastered the artful and ancient skill of Brit Milah or ritual circumcision in 1998 under the expert tutelage of the Chief Mohel of Jerusalem, Rav Yosef Halperin.
Studying in Israel, Wasser learned the intricacies of the laws or Halacha of this ritual by studying Shluchan Aruch, Sefer Habrit and Sefer Zocher Habrit personally with Rav Halperin. After demonstrating a full understanding of the ceremony, its customs and nuances, Wasser began intensive rotations at two Jerusalem area hospitals, Misgav Leidach and Bikkur Cholim. Under the watchful eye of several pediatric urologists, accompanied by the careful guidance of Ashkenazic and Sephardic master Mohelim, Wasser received his official certification from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel through the agency of Rav Halperin as the Chief Mohel of Jerusalem. He has been performing Brit Milah since 1998
As a clergyman, Dr. Wasser prides himself on his extensive work and experience with families of diverse and pluralistic backgrounds and he works diligently with each family to create a meaningful, significant, personalized and spiritually moving Jewish ceremony.
As a trained Hazzan, Wasser integrates music and song as well as explanation and description into the ceremony to ensure a truly celebratory ceremony filled with energy and Ruach (spirit)!
As a life-long learner, Dr. Wasser is presently drawing on his vast experience as a Mohel in his academic work while writing a qualitative doctoral dissertation in the field of philosophy of education on meaning and significance of this life cycle ritual.
Finally, Dr. Wasser is a caring, physician- recommended Mohel who has assisted hundreds of families in celebrating almost one thousand britot and naming ceremonies.
